Keith Murphy

Keith played with Trinity for 6 years as Hooker for the 1st XV under Tony Smeeth and Hugh McGuire. He played for Trinity in the European Universities Rugby Cup Final in 2004 in Toulouse and played two seasons for the Irish Universities Team in 1999-2001.

He went to school in Blackrock College where he won a JCT and two SCT Medals in 1995 & ’96 with ‘The Dream Team’.   He then was a member of the Blackrock College RFC U/20’s where he played under Tony Smeeth, winning the “double-treble” – Leinster League, McCorry Cup and All Ireland Championship 2 years in a row.

This is Keith’s second spell as coach with the Trinity U20’s. He was part of the U20’s All Ireland Championship winning coaching ticket in 2004. He has since coached Leinster Ladies and Blackrock College Ladies who were AIL Div 1 Finalists last year.

Keith works in finance in the Business Banking sector with Bank of Ireland in Grand Canal Square.

Gareth Pickering
Gareth Pickering

Born in North Canterbury, New Zealand, Gareth came to the club in 2011 and will be starting his fourth season coaching the U20s Premier XV.   Gareth’s daytime job is as a P.E. Teacher in Blackrock College where he is also backs coach for the SCT.   Before this he was a Housemaster and Teacher at Clongowes Wood College, also coaching their Junior Cup side. For the last 2 seasons Gareth has been backs coach for the Leinster U20’s.

Gareth’s playing days were cut short by a back injury whilst playing for the Douglas Rugby Club on the Isle of Mann in 1999 and he has been coaching ever since.
