Captain – Colm Hogan

Dublin University Football Club - Trinity Rugby

Colm Hogan

22
Wing/Full-Back // 6’0 // 95kg
Studying: Law & French
Honours: Munster U20s & Ireland U20s
After his sojourn in Toulouse, Colm returns to captain Trinity this season. A former Munster Under 20s captain and Ireland Under 20 international, he played for professional side Colomiers last season. Famous for his smooth, gliding running style, everyone at DUFC is hoping Colly’s time in France has added to his already considerable flair. Expect the unexpected as our captain often appears to be heading down dead ends only to score ridiculous individual tries. He respects “the shape” but is certainly not restrained by it. Loved by his teammates and members of the opposite sex alike, Colly will be hoping his year of captaincy will lead to success both on the pitch and in the nightclubs of Dublin.

Bart Vermeulen

Vermulan - Dublin University Football Club - Trinity Rugby

Bart Vermeulen

19
Prop // 6’2 // 103kg
Studying: BESS
School/Club: Belgium

Honours: Belgium U18

Only 19 years old, Bart has just made the transition from No. 8 to prop. A self-confessed gym addict, his primary goal for the season is for no jersey to fit him. The Belgian underage international works as hard as anyone in the squad, but he couldn’t do it without his beloved pink teddy bear Oksana.

Giuseppe Coyne

Coyne - Dublin University Football Club - Trinity Rugby

Giuseppe Coyne

19

Prop//6’0//105kg

Studying: BESS

School: Blackrock College

Honours: Leinster U18s,20s, A

“Peppy” is another member of the All-Ireland winning U20s team. Yet another ex-Rock boy, the front-row forward has played for Leinster A this summer and is in great shape ahead of his first season with the senior squad.

Donnacha Mescal

Mescal - Dublin University Football Club - Trinity Rugby

Donnacha Mescal

19
Prop // 6’2 // 117 kg
Studying: Human Resources Management
School/Club: Blackrock College

Honours: Leinster U18s, Ireland U19s

Prop for Blackrock SCT last year, Mescal is a tight forward with the skills of an out-half. Not shy, Donnacha has fit right in and stepped up impressively since the start of preseason. He can often be found in the centre as he forgets he is a prop forward. Another young gun with huge potential.

Dylan Doyle

Doyle - Dublin University Football Club - Trinity Rugby

Dylan Doyle

23
Prop // 6’4 // 123kg
Studying: Automotive Management and Technology
School/Club: Ratoath College
Honours: Leinster U19s A
A rock in the scrum, Dylan will have a key role to play this year for Trinity. A grounded, hard-working forward. Dylan’s quiet nature is in complete contrast to his physical way on the pitch. A really exciting prospect as he looks to kick on this year.

Thomas Clarkson

Clarkson - Dublin University Football Club - Trinity Rugby

Thomas Clarkson

18
Prop // 6’2 // 108kg
Studying: Human Health & Disease
School/Club: Blackrock College
Honours: Leinster U18s, 20s, Ireland U18s
A member of Blackrock’s SCT winning team from last season, “TC” has already made a big impression with Trinity. With bucketloads of underage representative experience, it will be interesting to see how much of an impact Thomas can have this season with DUFC.

Dan Sheehan

Sheehan - Dublin University Football Club - Trinity Rugby

Dan Sheehan

20
Hooker // 6’3 // 112kg
Studying: Social Policy & Sociology
School: Clongowes

Honours: Leinster U19s, U20s, A, Ireland U20s

Dan is a physical operator who forced his way into the Irish 20s set up last year after his eye-catching displays for Trinity. He has been involved with Leinster in preseason and plays more like a backrow than a hooker. Another Clongowes product, ‘Sheeno’ is looking to continue where he left off last season. Fond of the Liffey, Sheeno is a keen swimmer and holds the ‘strongest punch’ record in Flannery’s.

Joe Horan

Horan- Dublin University Football Club - Trinity Rugby

Joe Horan

23
Hooker // 5’9 // 90kg
Studying: Law & Political Science
School/Club: Blackrock College
A Blackrock college product, Joe is a pocket rocket on the pitch with his dynamic carrying and defence. His sense of humour is second to none, with his one liners gathering all the laughs. Joe is involved in everything the club does and is a hugely valued member of DUFC. Another 5th year veteran, Joe is balancing rugby with studying for his FE1s this year. Joe loves a sidestep from left to right, we’re hoping to see him learn to step the other way this season!

Arthur Greene

Greene - Dublin University Football Club - Trinity Rugby

Arthur Greene

20

Second Row // 6’4 // 102kg
Studying: Geography & Geoscience
School/Club: St. Michael’s

A work-horse second row who leaves it all on the pitch, Arthur is a club man through and through. Wardrobe aside, Arthur is extremely sharp and enjoys long debates on current affairs and politics. Coaching the women’s team this year with Joe Horan and Colm Hogan, Arthur will be heavily involved in all things DUFC involving pints.

Jack Dunne

Dunne - Dublin University Football Club - Trinity Rugby

Jack Dunne

20
Second Row // 6’7 // 114kg
Studying: Theoretical Physics
School/Club: St.Michael’s
Honours: Leinster A, Ireland U18s, U19s, U20s
In what was a brilliant first season out of school, ‘Dunners’ locked down a starting berth in the first XV while being one of the Irish 20s standout players, playing almost every minute of every game. Dunners is an athlethic freak who doesn’t seem to tire. Dunners’ shadow (literally) looms over everything we do in the pack and he’s another hugely popular member of the squad.

Cian O’Dwyer

ODwyer - Dublin University Football Club - Trinity Rugby

Cian O’Dwyer

23

Second Row // 6’5 // 106kg

Studying: BESS
School/Club: Blackrock College

Back for his fifth season with trinity, Cian is looking to make up for lost time after missing last season due to an injury picked up in pre season. The Vice Captain of the group, Cian will be leading from the front. Renowned for his public speaking, Cian frequently emphasises two words – ‘manic f***ing aggression’, Cian’s maths game isn’t as strong as his lineout calling ability. An aspiring social influencer, various pictures of Cian sprawled around the east coast of America in questionable attire can be found @CianoDeezenuts95.

Max Kearney

Kearney - Dublin University Football Club - Trinity Rugby

Max Kearney

20
Flanker // 5’9 // 90kg
Studying: BESS
School: Belvedere College

Honours: Leinster U19, 20, Ireland U19
The two time senior cup winner with Belvedere College is a no-nonsense, hard-hitting, chicken kiev loving 7 who leads by example. A pivotal member of the U20s All-Ireland winning squad last year, Max will have an influential role in the season to come in what is just his second season with DUFC.

Patrick Nulty

Dublin University Football Club - Trinity Rugby

Patrick Nulty

21
Flanker // 6’0 // 92kg
Studying: MSISS
School/Club: Clongowes
Patrick is coming off another extremely impressive season with the under 20s and has been tearing it up in pre season. Another backrow from the Clongowes production line , Nulty is an immense talent who is sure to light up College Park this year with his blistering pace and fiery temperment. His open field running ability would put any back 3 player to shame. If he hasn’t told you already, Nulty spent the summer in Vancouver so be sure to ask him about it.

Niall O’Riordan

Dublin University Football Club - Trinity Rugby

Niall O’Riordan

23
No.8// 6’1 // 103kg
Studying: MSISS
School/Club: Castleknock College

‘Noffer’ is the hard man of the Senior squad. He would run into a brick wall for you. A huge fan of BBQs and the gym, he is a go-to ball carrier that loves to run over out-halves. The ‘baby rhino‘ leaves defenders in his wake with his deceptive pace off the mark. Anointed by Fintan Murphy as the Calzone King, Niall is a quiet man off the pitch but loves a good night out in Diceys after a win.

Johnny McKeown

McKeown - Dublin University Football Club - Trinity Rugby

Johnny McKeown

21
Flanker // 6’2 // 93kg
Studying: Economics & History
School/Club: Ballymena Academy
Honours: Ulster U18,19, Ireland U18
Johnny is a powerful Backrow with the pace of an outside back. Hailing from Ballymena R.F.C, the Ulster and Ireland under 18 vice-captain has been a central figure for our U20 team for the last two seasons and should be looking to make the step up this year to the first XV.

Reuben Pim

Dublin University Football Club - Trinity Rugby

Reuben Pim

20
Flanker/Second-Row // 6’3 // 96kg
Studying: BESS
School/Club: Kilkenny College
Honours: Leinster U18, 19, U20
Fresh from Leinster U20s, Reuben has already gone some way to filling the boots of older brother Sam, being involved in a couple of 1st XV games in his first year with DUFC last season. Distinguishable by his strawberry blonde hair, the Kilkenny man loves the physical side of the game.

Rowan Osborne

Osborne - Dublin University Football Club - Trinity Rugby

Rowan Osborne

22
Scrum-Half // 5’6 // 75kg
Studying: Engineering
School/Club: Clongowes
Rowan is coming off the back of a super second season with the first XV where he shared the 9 role with Angus Lloyd. Rowan is one of the senior players this year and isn’t shy in bossing his forwards around. Despite his small stature, Ro has a talent in wriggling through tackles and avoiding oncoming tacklers. He is a great personality in the squad and his raw speed will leave interior defences for dead this season. An extremely talented footballer, Rowan had trials with Aldershot Town and Crewe Alexandra as a teenager but left football behind to pursue his lifelong ambition of riding a winner at the Curragh. If there’s anything Rowan loves more than horse racing it’s Tottenham Hotspur. Don’t mention Jack Wilshere around him.

Conor Lowndes

Lowndes - Dublin University Football Club - Trinity Rugby

Conor Lowndes

23
Scrum-Half // 6’0 // 90kg
Studying: Genetics
School/Club: Colaiste Iognaid
Honours: Connacht U20s, A, Ireland 7s
Conor joins us after a short stint with Young Munster last year. A skilful scrum-half who spent time in the Connacht Academy and with the Irish 7s, Conor is extremely versatile and can play almost anywhere along the backline. Conor looks like he’s just off the set of Home & Away with his blonde surfer get-up.

James Fennelly

Fennelly - Dublin University Football Club - Trinity Rugby

James Fennelly

22
Out-half //6’0 // 75kg
Studying: BESS
School/Club: Blackrock College
Fenners looks like he belongs in a skate park with his long locks and certainly not on a rugby pitch. His chilled-out approach to the game and life in general allows him to put players in space and throw outrageous offloads that have earned him the nickname ‘The Prince’. James has just landed a deal with Head & Shoulders so we’re hoping he doesn’t go down the Joe Hart route.

James Hickey

Hickey - Dublin University Football Club - Trinity Rugby

James Hickey

21
Centre // 6’0 // 91kg
Studying: Engineering
School/Club: St. Michael’s College
Honours: Leinster U18s & U19s
James may still only be 20 years old but is already a leader in the group. He is a hard-hitting centre that loves to throw a skip pass off either hand. James ‘found himself’ in Thailand this summer and can be heard saying ‘bro’ at the end of every sentence. Like most of our Michaels contingent, you hear James before you see him. Last year’s U20s All-Ireland winning captain is a hugely popular figure who puts his body on the line every time without fail.

Phil Murphy

Murphy - Dublin University Football Club - Trinity Rugby

Phil Murphy

22
Centre // 6’1 // 93kg
Studying: Engineering with Management
School: Colaiste Iognaid
Honours: Sweden 7s and 15s
Phil comes back to us having represented Sweden in both 7s and 15s in the past year. A versatile player, Phil covers centre and back three and had a great season last year, culminating in selection for the Colours matchday squad. An unknown package, the Galway man is a massive yoga advocate and a talented chef. His goal for the year is to “give the squad a musical education.” Phil built his own pizza oven last summer which catered for 40 lads after training one night in Galway.

James Moriarty

Moriarty - Dublin University Football Club - Trinity Rugby

James Moriarty

20
Centre // 6’0 // 89kg
Studying: 1st Year Anything
School: Blackrock College
Honours: Leinster U20s
“Morsh” is an inside back who has all the skills you could ask for, with kicking and raw speed arguably his two best attributes. A real life Ross O’Caroll-Kelly, Morsh “ehhhhh” will probably be in first year college until he’s 27. Morsh has been compared to Noel Reid for his expansive distributing game. A game-breaker on his day.

Jack Kelly

Kelly - Dublin University Football Club - Trinity Rugby

Jack Kelly

21
Centre/Full-Back // 6’1 // 90kg
Studying: Law
School: St. Michael’s
Honours: Ireland U18,19,20, Leinster
Another Michaels man, the former Ireland and Leinster U20 captain is one of the most experienced members of this years group. Fresh out of pre-season with Leinster where he featured off the bench against Montauban, Monsieur Kelly will look to lead from the front and forms part of an exciting back 3.

Liam Turner

Turner - Dublin University Football Club - Trinity Rugby

Liam Turner

19
Centre // 5’9 // 88kg
Studying: BESS
School: Blackrock College
Honours: Leinster U18,19,20, Ireland U19

Another member of last year’s Blackrock SCT winning team, the talented centre has already featured for Leinster A. The Irish underage international has Tony Smeeth excited before he’s even togged out for Trinity which is saying something. Someone to keep an eye out for.

Donal Liddy

Liddy - Dublin University Football Club - Trinity Rugby

Donal Liddy

22
Winger// 6’0 // 90kg
Studying: Aeronautical Engineering
School: CBS Mullingar
Honours: Defence Forces
Joining us from Mullingar RFC where he was top try scorer last season, Donal is looking to make a big impression with DUFC. Donal has represented Ireland at underage level in rugby league and has also played for the Defence Forces rugby team. Donal has impressed in pre-season and is a big talent. A member of the Air Corps, the sky is the limit for ‘Lids’.

Michael Silvester

Silvester - Dublin University Football Club - Trinity Rugby

Michael Silvester

21
Full-Back // 5’11 // 88kg
Studying: BESS
School: Clongowes

Silvo is coming into this season off the back of a very successful season with our First XV. He was one of Irelands standout performers during last years U20 Six Nations and World Cup campaigns, earning himself a place in the Leinster Academy. His silky running and lighting pace will add flare to DUFC’s counter attack. Last years player of the year, Silvo is a key member of this team. His interests include mirrors, tanning salons and Everleigh Mondays.

Rob Russell

Dublin University Football Club - Trinity Rugby

Rob Russell

20
Full-Back // 6’0 // 89kg
Studying: Business & Management
School: St. Michael’s

Honours: Leinster U19,20

Rob joins the senior squad after a very impressive first season with DUFC U20s which culminated in selection for the Leinster U20s this summer. Rob is deceptively quick and has great game awareness, regularly putting others away to score. An exciting talent.
