Thank you all for your support of the Club down the years. Without the generosity and ongoing support of its Members and alumni supporters the Club could not have survived as the oldest rugby club in the world in continuous existence …nor could we achieve our ambitions re “aClubforLife”, “aUniqueUniversityRugbyExperience” and “AddingtoWhatsGoneBefore”.
The recent “Mailchimp” however set out the challenge we currently face in funding the Club through this Covid 19 problem:
– management has to independently raise c80% of the cost of running a program of 8 teams, with All Ireland high-performance programs at U20 and Men’s senior levels
– usual funding channels/ activities have been removed due to restrictive Covid social protocols
– discontinuation of our main sponsor due to College failing to agree overall TCD extension terms
– TCD support for the Club has been reduced
– the above are projected to reduce Club revenues by over €170k
– the current climate is not conducive to attracting new sponsors
– there is no additional support available from IRFU
The Club needs to protect the key assets if it is to maintain its position at the “top table” of Irish rugby.
THERE ARE 4 WAYS YOU COULD HELP YOUR CLUB
(1) BECOME A MEMBER
(2) If already a Member, ASK A FRIEND
If every Member were to obtain ONE new membership from a friend or supporter it would contribute c€45,000 to the funding need.
(3) If already a Member, UPGRADE your membership to a higher category
(4) become or introduce someone to THE 1854 PATRONS CLUB (see below)
COULD I MAKE A PERSONAL APPEAL to you to consider how you and your old DUFC teammates and friends could help re the above. We need 15 more Patrons Club members to meet our objective and as many Members as we can muster.
Membership and online payment details are set out on the Club website:

while details of The 1854 Patrons Club are set out here:

Thank you for your continuing support.
