DUFC took part in this year’s IRFU Give it a Try competition, which was an initiative to promote the women’s game in universities following Ireland’s hosting of the World Cup. It was a 7s tournament with all teams made up of freshman players. Trinity have recruited very well this season and had a strong group of young players involved. The team started positively with a victory over DCU which was followed by a difficult loss to hosts UCD. Subsequent wins over Queen’s University Belfast and the University of Ulster earned DUFC a place in the final. UCD were again too strong for Trinity but there was a great deal of encouragement to be taken from the day. Most of the Trinity players were new to the game and will look to become key members of the squad throughout their time in college.

Women’s rugby in Trinity goes from strength to strength with the playing pool as big as it has ever been. The team competes in both the SSI University League and the Leinster League Division 3. The DUFC Women’s First XV face Arklow in a Leinster League clash under lights in College Park on Friday 17th November at 8pm. All support is encouraged!
